Holy Week Escapes

SEND TO A FRIEND PRINT Bookmark and Share
From April 1st  to April 4th , Argentina celebrates Holy Week. Below are four destinations for dreaming, for adventuring, or for enjoying at your own pace during the vacation days!...

Wild and authentic: Bahía Bustamante

To get closer to nature, head in the direction of Patagonia, to Bahía Bustamante, located between Trelew and Comodoro Rivadavia. The place is surprising: a town converted into an estancia for tourists. With 10,000 hectares of countryside and several dozen kilometers of coastline, here they practice true rural tourism. The wide-open spaces here are a luxury! You can sleep in one of the ranch houses with a view of the Atlantic, discover the fauna of the region (penguins, songbirds and sea lions), or partake of the estancia’s activities: seaweed collecting, clam-digging and sheep-farming. You can also go hiking or horseback riding along the breaking waves of the south’s blue seas.

Archaeology and sports: San Juan

The region of San Juan is bursting with unknown treasures. The Talampaya and Valle de la Luna parks are marvels created by nature more than 200 million years ago! Plan to rent a car for a relaxing visit, or you can stop by the travel agencies in San Agustín del Valle Fértil or in Villa Unión (two cities where you can also sleep the night), if you prefer to be guided in this archaeological journey. A day in Laguna Brava, at an altitude of 4500 meters, is well worth the visit: after braving the sharp curves on a route with incredible colors, you can discover a lagoon with pink flamingos. To relax, you can pass the night in the city of Rodeo, some 100 km from San Juan, which has a turquoise artificial lake, where kite surfers and windsurfers have everything they could possibly want.

Luxury and relaxation: Ushuaia

To be at the end of the world is the most luxurious way to enjoy the beginning of autumn, in two of the most beautiful hotels in Ushuaia. First up: the Cauquenes, only a few kilometers from Ushuaia, with a panoramic view of the Beagle Channel and impressive sunsets over Tierra de Fuego. To relax, there are massages, Jacuzzis and covered pools in the hotel, which also has a spa. Next we direct you to the Finisterris Lodge, which also offers an incredible view over the channel, in a rustic but luxurious style. You can relax in spacious bungalows, where a chef will come to prepare Patagonian specialties. …Two exceptional places right in the middle of Tierra de Fuego.

Epicure and adventure: Mendoza

The Mendoza region is a perfect option to combine a few days of relaxation and sports. You can begin with rafting activities in Potrerillos, where several agencies offer to take you down the Mendoza river in the sumptuous frame of the Andes. The programs also offer rappelling and mountain biking, as well as magnificent hikes in the mountains, all in Aconcagua Park. The reward comes later, in the areas surrounding Mendoza, in Lujan de Cuyo or Maipú, where there are many good wineries (such as Salentein or Cavas Wine Lodge) and enchanting hotels (like Parador del Angel) to settle down, visit the establishments and enjoy the best wines of the country. To top it off, the legendary wine route, with dozens of wineries, will surely keep you busy!
